My Story

Hey there, I’m Helena. I’m a life coach, doctor and neuroscience graduate passionate about creating an incredible life regardless of your past. Since leaving clinical medicine, I’ve dedicated my time to helping others create their dream life. Whether I’m working with disenfranchised doctors or individuals looking to level-up, I wake up excited to work with my clients. However, my life didn’t always feel this way, and I want you to know that if you’re feeling stuck, confused, anxious, at rock bottom that I’ve been there too.

Medical School

My story starts with a little girl who wanted to do the best thing possible with her life and become a doctor (that’s me we’re talking about!). Having been bullied in childhood, I became a perfectionist, control freak and big-time people pleaser. I relied on external achievement to demonstrate my self-worth. When I was accepted at a London medical school I thought I’d “made it” and life was about to begin. Little did I know that I was about to enter a downwards spiral of feeling anxious, low in mood, never-good-enough and terrified of failure. That was my “normal”, and when I hit rock bottom, I went through a period of derealisation and depersonalisation which forever changed the way I saw the world.

A Pivotal Moment

I took a year out of Medicine to study Neuroscience as an intercalated degree - a decision that ended up changing everything for me. I was captivated by neuroscience, but in particular, the beauty of a little thing called neuroplasticity which means we can change at any moment and reprogram our minds. Equipped with neuroscience lectures and a bazillion self-development podcasts and books, I decided to transform my mindset. Over the next few months I truly started to believe anything is possible. I banished negativity, perfectionism, the inner critic that told me I wasn’t good enough… and to my amazement began to check off goals I’d thought were never possible for me! I graduated with first class honours in Neuroscience, later graduated in the top decile of my medical school and attained my dream job as a Doctor in Oxford.

Working as a Doctor

Post-pandemic life as a doctor was hard to say the least. I lived by an intense rota, my circadian rhythm was out of whack and whilst I put on a brave face at work, the burnout was real. I put my entire life on the back-burner in order to keep up with work and simply survive. I worked on difficult case after case until I couldn’t ignore the lesson repeatedly smacking me in the face: life really is too short. I remembered how ignited I’d felt when studying neuroscience and felt a calling to start over and pursue my passion for self-development… but was terrified to leave a career I’d pursued for a decade. I chose to ask for help, investing in a coach who helped me discover that deep down I knew what I wanted: to become a life coach, start my own business, venture into the unknown and uplift others through the mindset work I loved so much. So, I took reins on my one precious life, handed in my resignation and left medicine with nothing lined up but a vision for a new beginning.

Becoming a Coach

What felt like the ultimate risk became the ultimate payoff! By the time I left medicine I was working with a handful of clients, and since then I’ve attended self-development seminars, created my own coaching business, and dedicated my time and energy to transforming my own life, so I am able to show up as the best version of myself and help others do the same.

I’m eternally grateful for all my experiences… I have met human suffering and death face-to-face several times over. Because of that, I now grab life with both hands and advocate for you to do the same. If you’re feeling stuck in your life, I’d love to help. Whether you invest in 1:1 coaching, or simply keep up with me on social media, I’m here to be your coach, virtual cheerleader and remind you of your infinite potential.

“It’s never too late to become who you want to be. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over.”
